Drees & Sommer UK are pleased to announce the completion of a new sports pavilion for Manchester Communication Academy. We were appointed to provide a range of professional services including preparation and submission of funding application to secure Condition Improvement Fund (CIF) and Healthy Pupil Capital Fund (HPCF) support.

Following successful application for the funding, we were commissioned to design and manage the build of the pavilion that consists of piled foundations, brick and block walls as well as a Kingspan Roof System. The pavilion includes four new changing rooms, referee changing areas, and disabled facilities which will serve the existing hard play, grass areas and astro-turf of the school. The focus was very much on delivering changing facilities that are of an excellent standard, as well as providing a safe and secure environment.

Manchester Communication Academy is a new school, having only opened in 2010. Located in Harpurhey, an area of the city which has suffered from deprivation in the past, the Academy has come to represent the regeneration that has occurred in the area over the last few years. The construction of a new sports pavilion for the Academy is an important aspect of the drive to improve services and facilities for the local community.

Ian Wait, Executive Director, Greater Manchester Academies Trust said, “We have worked very effectively with Drees & Sommer UK to secure funding for and be able to provide these excellent sports facilities for the academy and local community.”

He added “They were highly professional throughout the process and consistently updated us on progress, costs and programme implications. We would have no hesitation in recommending Drees & Sommer UK to other education establishments who were considering changes to their estate.”

We are proud to deliver projects within the education sector that benefit the school and the wider communities they serve.
