Conwy County Council appointed Drees & Sommer to provide consultancy services on the construction of their new £39 million headquarters. The four-storey, 100,000 sq. ft. civic building in Colwyn Bay town centre will be a hub for the council, and will bring services together under one roof, maximising efficiency for the local authority.

In 2016, finance was secured for the multi-million pounds headquarters, accommodating around 750 council staff, relocating from 13 buildings.

Our Cost Management team provided project monitor services on the 100,000 sq. ft offices to be built in Colwyn Bay town centre.

The new development was part of the council’s strategy to regenerate Colwyn Bay town centre. The second phase included plans to redevelop an existing grade two-listed civic building to the east of the town.

This development scheme for the town centre of Colwyn Bay, Wales, will provide new office accommodation and a multi storey car park, alongside the redevelopment of the existing grade II listed civic building.

The project will enable the council to operate more efficiently and improve services for customers, by consolidating staff and services into fewer sites.

The new building will achieve a BREEAM rating of Excellent with a minimum A rated Energy Performance Certificate.
