Sainsbury’s - Wombourne

AA Projects was commissioned by Mercian Development to undertake Project Management, Employer’s Agent and Quantity Surveying services for the development of the brownfield site one mile from the centre of Wombourne. The project saw the construction of a 38,000sq ft Sainsbury store (shell and core) and associated external works including enabling works, demolition of existing 3 storey office and Section 278 works. The project was delivered on time and within budget.

   Project details:

Demolitions, alterations and extensions to an existing Volvo dealership in Sefton Street, Liverpool. Lookers Honda traded from a site further along Sefton Street and detailed proposals were prepared to carry out extensive alterations and extensions to the existing property. AA Projects provided early cost advice and Value Engineering prior to the purchase of the Volvo dealership to ensure that this option was more sustainable than alterations to the existing dealership.

Project details:

Phase one of a multi-phase Business Park on the outskirts of Stockton on Tees. The development comprises three separate buildings providing 2712m2 of office and ancillary space together with associated site works. The site is situated on the banks of the river Tees and has been subject to considerable site development works utilising a wildlife and habitat theme from the adjacent nature reserve. Project Management, Quantity Surveying and CDM Coordination services are provided.

Project details:

The project is a new fifty thousand square foot office development in the Stephenson Quarter of Newcastle. The project is adjacent to the railway station in a historically sensitive conservation area and has required extensive consultation with a number of bodies including English Heritage and Network Rail. The scope includes the demolition of existing buildings and the restoration and incorporation of the listed brick chapel.

Project details:

New build dealership on a Greenfield site adjacent to the Fort Kinnaird retail park in Edinburgh. This development is on a site adjacent to a B & Q store and has substantial exposure from all sides. The building delivered the Honda Corporate Identity in full and, in order to achieve the planning approval, incorporated air source heat pumps providing heating and cooling to under floor pipework in the showroom.

  Project details:

In discussion with English Heritage and Newcastle City Council, The Hanro Group and AA Projects developed a brief for the restoration and conversion of this Grade II Listed building for flexible, commercial floor space to give it a long-term future. Substantial elements of the original plan have been retained, including the central light well and ramps. Original features from the horse repository such as ramps, horse tethering rings, first floor ladies’ gallery and second floor cycle test route have been preserved to maintain the character of the building. The building is one of twenty exemplar case studies in English Heritage’s Constructive Conservation in Practice publication.

Project details:

A Trim and Chassis warehouse providing over 21,500m² of storage facilities for automotive parts, with associated office and welfare facilities. AA Projects provided project management, employer’s agent and cost management services. The floor slab was cast to a tolerance of TR34 Specification FM2 and quality control on its casting was of vital importance to the success of this project. Due to the nature and density of materials being stored a fire sprinkler system to ESFR Extra Hazard rating combined with a suspended non-combustible ceiling within 100mm of each sprinkler head was installed.

Project details:

A complex project on a main arterial road in the City Centre with difficult access. The development is adjacent to existing student accommodation and required careful planning and phasing. The development provides multi-storey student residences providing 11,250m2 of new build accommodation together with 750m2 mixed use retail and 300m2 leisure areas.

  Project details:

AA Projects was commissioned jointly by the architect and client to advise on access consultancy for the proposed refurbishment and extension of this key building in Leeds City Centre.  The role incorporated auditing the initial design for accessibility and compliance with the Disability Discrimination Act and best practise.  The role is to continue through detailed design and then to complete an access audit review of the completed development.
