Project details:
New College and University Campus attracting a mix of NWDA, LSC and HEFCE funding. The brownfield site was a previous Paper Mill and Council Works Depot that were congested with main utility services that had to be relocated. Adjacent to the site was a mains gas holder that was de-commissioned as part of the Scheme. The two sites were separated by the River Calder culvert. AA Projects was involved from the inception of the Project through to completion and supported the Clients in land purchases,all aspects of the remediation of the sites and then the developments on the site. The new facilities include a five-storey 25,600m2 premises of teaching spaces, workshops, laboratories, research areas, catering facilities, social areas, etc. The development also included a new state of the art sports provision including teaching, fitness facilities, FIFA standard 3G technology football pitch and MUGA.

Project: Green Spaces for People

A BIG Lottery funded national scheme delivered by a partnership of three Registered Social Landlords (RSL's): Places for People, The Riverside Group and the Peabody Trust.
The scheme is to develop the “green spaces” on a number of estates managed by the RSL's. The estates are located nationwide from Scotland through to South East England and the project values range from circa £20k to £530k.
The completed projects will enable the estate communities to engage, interact and play in a safe environment. The projects will include community gardens, multi-use games areas, children’s play areas, community meeting places, natural wildlife habitats, sensory gardens and community enterprise projects.
Programme Management and Cost Management Services are provided. This includes the creation of a Project Management Plan for the entire project team to structure and frame the delivery of the 75 projects and the instigation of a master programme to monitor, review and plan the project delivery.

The new £70m Middlehaven Project for Middlesbrough College opened its doors to students in September 2008. The 30,000 square metre campus houses 17,000 students and 1,000 staff in a visually stunning five-storey building that provides a state-of-the art teaching and learning environment. The relocation of Middlesbrough College is a cornerstone in the Middlehaven development plan for Tees Valley Regeneration and replaces the existing multi-site arrangement. AA Projects was commissioned to provide Employer's Agent, Quantity Surveyor and CDM-Coordinator services.

Project: Malvern Heritage Project

Project details:
A multi purpose project that includes the restoration of natural spring wells around Malvern, the introduction of sheep to graze the hill slopes (to reduce the incidence of non- indigenous vegetation on the slopes) and construction of cattle grids into the surrounding roads. Much of the area is in an ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ and has many rare plant and animal species that require a sensitive approach. Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) mentor and monitor this scheme.

Project: Rochdale Town Centre redevelopment

AA Projects has been appointed for the first stage of the Rochdale Town Centre redevelopment. The first phase consists of the demolition of the existing municipal offices and the construction of new purpose built office accommodation for the £50 million scheme. The scheme is located in a busy town centre location close to the River Roche and will have many challenges from a health and safety perspective.

The project is a mixed use development comprising commercial, residential & leisure accommodation. The site is environmentally sensitive requiring extensive consultation & sympathetic design. AA Projects is undertaking the Project Management role for the initial outline Planning Application phase. The role includes development of the project strategy, appointment of the required professional team, planning and programming and preparation of key board reports.

Project: Trim and Chassis Warehouse

Project details:
A Trim and Chassis warehouse providing over 21,500m² of storage facilities for automotive parts, with associated office and welfare facilities. AA Projects provided project management, employer’s agent and cost management services. The floor slab was cast to a tolerance of TR34 Specification FM2 and quality control on its casting was of vital importance to the success of this project. Due to the nature and density of materials being stored a fire sprinkler system to ESFR Extra Hazard rating combined with a suspended non-combustible ceiling within 100mm of each sprinkler head was installed.

A complex project on a main arterial road in the City Centre with difficult access. The development is adjacent to existing student accommodation and required careful planning and phasing. The development provides multi-storey student residences providing 11,250m2 of new build accommodation together with 750m2 mixed use retail and 300m2 leisure areas.

Project details:
AA Projects was commissioned jointly by the architect and client to advise on access consultancy for the proposed refurbishment and extension of this key building in Leeds City Centre. The role incorporated auditing the initial design for accessibility and compliance with the Disability Discrimination Act and best practise. The role is to continue through detailed design and then to complete an access audit review of the completed development.
