New Facilities Transform Crossacres Academy

Projects

Projects

With ESFA Condition Improvement and Healthy Pupils Capital Funding secured in 2018/19, Drees & Sommer UK completed a comprehensive programme of improvements and refurbishments that have delivered a range of great new spaces for the pupils of Crossacres Academy, Wythenshawe. We secured the funding, designed, tendered and administered the contract on the project.

In the courtyard areas, which were underutilised spaces within the school, the existing landscaping has been removed and we have created two new play areas. One with football and table tennis tables and the second is a relaxing area with new seating, plants and soft play surfaces. The spaces not only offer exciting new play areas they are also ideal for outdoor teaching.

In the Dining Room, it is a full and colourful refurbishment, including new ceilings, wall finishes, floor finishes, an additional fire exit door and installation of new dining furniture. The existing kitchen area has also been refurbished with the installation of a new ventilation system, as well as new flooring and wall finishes.

Suzanne Blay, Headteacher at Crossacres Academy said of the work, “Drees & Sommer UK have delivered an excellent facility to our Academy. Our recent dining room refurbishment and courtyard transformation have been a great addition to the school. They helped the school receive funding for the works and their management of contractors on site is to be commended, always keeping Academy leaders adequately informed."

She added, “The project manager worked tirelessly to deliver efficiencies in the project and this has resulted in a fantastic space for the school pupils to enjoy their social time. Communication between the project management team was excellent, they were responsive and amenable to suggestions and we would highly recommend Drees & Sommer UK, their professionalism is outstanding.”
