Main Duties and Responsibilities:

1. To undertake Rights of Light/Neighbourly Matters surveying services of all kinds, including:

  • Working closely with Professional Services Director on Rights of Light, Party Wall, and Neighbourly Matters etc. Inc. associated Expert Witness advice
  • Working closely with clients – either Developers or injured parties
  • Undertaking preliminary Rights of Light assessments and reports
  • Overseeing the preparation of detailed 3D Rights of Light computer models
  • Assessing results from 3D model and preparation of reports
  • Proving strategic advice on ways of dealing with Rights of Light injuries including cut backs, compensation and injunctions
  • Undertaking Rights of Light negotiations
  • Advising on contents of Deeds of Release
  • Preparation and registration of light obstruction notices
  • Dealing with Party Wall matters from inception to completion
  • Dealing with over sailing disputes and agreements
  • Advising and reporting on boundary disputes/neighbourly matters
  • Dispute resolution
  • Expert witness as required relative to the above
  • If desired, general Building Surveying duties including design, surveys, reports etc.

2. To provide the independent delivery of Professional Services consultancy advice

3. To carry out business development activities to generate new opportunities and commissions

4. Providing client / team management

5. If desired, helping to support the general Building Surveying team on other Building Surveying services

This role profile is not exhaustive; it will be subject to periodic review and may be amended to meet the changing needs of the business.

Skills & Experience

  • Building Surveying qualification or similar
  • Training will be provided to attain Chartered Surveyor status if desired
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Experience of working in a busy office environment and dealing with clients/customers is an advantage
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to establish trust and develop effective working relationships
  • Ability to generate new business through business development activities
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a proactive approach to problem solving
  • Uses initiative to find solutions
  • PC literate including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel
  • Can interpret and oversee preparation of AutoCAD 3D drawings to a good standard

The working hours for this role are 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Thursday, and 8.30am to 3.45pm Friday, 45 minutes for lunch.
