Macclesfield College – Asset Management Tool
Our facilities management division was appointed to undertake an Asset Management Tool (AMT).
This included completion of an asset register which identified all of the key assets across the estate. Once all of the assets are identified, the AMT allows the client to ensure that all of the assets are maintained in compliance with statutory regulations. This is achieved by giving the client the opportunity to program the maintenance regime applicable to the asset, and monitor progress across the year.
Finally, as part of the AMT, a lifecycle analysis was produced of each of the buildings. This was achieved utilising the information produced as part of the PMP and from an understanding of a typical college estate and from data available from the asset register.
The process allows the client to understand their estate and its current condition. It also allows them to predict future cost and ensure that sufficient capital money is available to fund major asset replacements and keep the estate in good condition. Finally, the process gives the client a tool to ensure that all assets are identified and an appropriate maintenance regime is in place. This enables the client to maximise the life of the asset and its capital investment.
