Queen Elizabeth’s Academy – SEEF Funded LED Lighting Replacement Scheme
AA Projects was appointed as energy and sustainability consultants for the LED lighting replacement scheme at Queen Elizabeth’s Academy in Mansfield, funded using Salix Energy Efficiency Fund (SEEF). Our team prepared the application, including energy saving calculations, surveys, and cost plans, and managed project delivery.
The project involved the replacement of over 1,300 light fittings and intelligent lighting controls, delivered through a phased programme that minimised disruption to the school. The works were carried out during term-time with the contractor working outside of normal hours.
Through applying for funding using SEEF, the academy was able to secure 100% of the project costs with an interest free loan, repaid over a period of 8 years based on the annual financial electricity savings.
The project is expected to save the academy in excess of £37,000 per annum in energy savings and reduce their carbon impact by 130 tonnes CO2e per annum. The academy will also benefit from maintenance savings from the extended lifetime of LED lighting over conventional fluorescents.
