Corporate Social Responsibility is a key consideration and we are very aware of the resulting impact our actions can have on our staff and clients, the local and wider community and the environment, both now and in the future. It is our aim to embed Corporate Social Responsibility into all our business activities and to encourage all of our staff to perform their duties in accordance with this policy.
Community Impact: AA Projects recognise that investing in the local community is vital to the sustainability of our own business and society within our area. The Directors allocate part of each year’s profits for charitable donations to a range of local and national charities. Our staff take part in an enormous range of sponsored charity events and we actively support and encourage those taking part in arranging charitable in-office events such as Jeans for Genes day and Children in Need. We recognise the critical importance of good education and the difficulties that many students from disadvantaged backgrounds have staying in full time education. To this end AA Projects has, in partnership with a local college and the Dick Camplin Education Trust, established a bursary for students to enable them to be supported while they study. We also sponsor prizes for exceptional student performance at a number of colleges.
Business ethics and Integrity: AA Projects is committed to the principles of good corporate governance and to ensuring that its business is properly directed and managed for the benefit of its stakeholders, including its managers and employees. We aim to meet, and where possible, exceed all relevant legal requirements and aim to behave with honesty and integrity in all our activities and relationships with others. We seek to uphold the values of honesty, partnership and fairness in our relationships with the clients, consultants and contractors we work with and deliver our services in a way that safeguards against unfair business practices. We encourage suppliers and sub contractors to adopt responsible business policies and practices for mutual benefit.
Environment and Sustainability: AA Projects has secured the ISO 14000 Environmental accreditation and believe that the implementation of a strong and proactive Environmental Policy is a fundamental part of our business future. Our full Environmental Policy is available on request. As a first step towards meeting our goal of changing the way we work to reduce our environmental impact, we signed up to be a Carbon Neutral company in 2008. We aim to minimise our carbon emissions from business travel by avoiding unnecessary travel and utilising public transport whenever possible. We also encourage staff to use sustainable modes of transport to commute to work and as part of this initiative a large number have signed up to the Government supported Cycle to Work initiative. Each of our offices work to reduce the amount of waste generated and disposed to landfill through a waste minimisation and recycling programme.
Development of Our People: We aim to develop and maintain a culture of wellbeing and encourage team working, mentoring and the sharing of knowledge throughout the organisation. We support continuous personal and professional development through a variety of training programmes and review progress in meeting objectives as part of our appraisal system. We respect the rights and dignity of every employee and seek to treat all staff fairly and without discrimination.
Health and Safety: We are committed to providing a working environment which is both safe and fit for the provision of the highest level of service ensuring health and safety issues are a priority for all business operations.
