Projects

Drees & Sommer UK are providing Project Management and Quantity Surveying services on behalf of DHL Construction & Real Estate, on a new £47 million parcel terminal and office HUB facility at Kastrup Airport in Copenhagen. The project will have a major impact on how quickly DHL Express can handle, deliver and forward shipments. The new facility once in operation will enable DHL to deliver a higher standard of service to their customers.

The facility, comprising of 26,000 m2 and an associated parking deck of 7,500 m2, is being built inside the airport area for handling incoming and outgoing air freight. With a focus on sustainability, solar cells will be mounted on the roof, rainwater will be recycled and the facility will be both heated and cooled with ground source heat pumps. The building will be environmentally certified according to BREAAM or equivalent.

In addition to a large terminal and loading and unloading hall, the facility will also contain three larger office units and a workshop. DHL will install an advanced sorting plant for packages within the terminal, requiring complex technical installations.

Stephen Jacobsen, Divisional Director, Drees & Sommer UK said, “We are delighted to be continuing our longstanding relationship with DHL on this exciting project and look forward to delivering what will be a state-of-the-art facility for their Express Division”.

Ground preparations are complete and piling works are now well underway, and the HUB will be ready for operation from the summer of 2022.
