AA Projects provided multi-disciplined professional consultancy services to convert an existing large-scale food and beverage storage facility into a cutting-edge, GDP standard pharmaceutical storage and distribution facility for Accord UK Limited.
Working in partnership with Accord UK and their logistics operator, DHL, our experienced team provided end-to-end management of the development. This included utilising our building surveying team for the initial dilapidation surveys and measured survey drawings through to project and cost management of the overall conversion project.
The advanced 20,000m2 distribution centre houses largest amount of manufacturer owned pallet storage locations (30,000) in a single facility, allowing Accord UK to hold all stock types under one roof and will distribute in excess of 1,000,000 packs per day.
The facility also is home to the UK’s largest Controlled drug store along with proprietary storage for Chilled drugs, in order to meet the requirements of Good Distribution Practices (GDP) the warehouse distribution space maintains an ambient temperature between 18 degrees and 25 degrees. The project included the Cat B refurbishment of the existing offices to provide co-operate space for both Accord UK (as the building owner) and DHL as the logistics operator.
The extremely fast track £17 million project was completed over a 9-month period in readiness for both the Home Office inspection and approval and also the MHRA inspection and approval process to allow Accord UK to operate.
