Clwyd Alyn - Care

As one of their most trusted consultants our role starts right at the outset of the development process; we have assisted the Housing Association with zero-carbon and energy efficient solutions and the establishment of an OJEU compliant contractor framework. We’re proud of the positive team environment that we have created with Clwyd Alyn one we have sustained for over a decade.

We work closely with the in-house team to consider site viability prior to the design team even being appointed or the site purchased. Over the years Clwyd Alyn has been supported by all our divisions and services.

Our collaboration has seen the logistically difficult refurbishment and extension of a dementia care home in Chirk, a new build extra care incorporating two Victorian villas in a conservation area in Wrexham, three further extra cares in Flint, Llangefni and Buckley and an extra care in Welshpool incorporating the refurbishment and remodelling of a large, listed building.

The quantity and type of communal facilities varies and has changed greatly in recent years in affordable products, from large properties with libraries, gyms, hobby rooms, music rooms, hairdressers, and cinemas, to a lighter product with more multi-use spaces alongside the core offer of assisted and pamper bathing rooms and a larger quantity of quality accommodation, typically of 100+ units.

Stakeholder management is pivotal to successful extra cares. This includes the local authority and health board but also the internal stakeholders from care and support, housing management, IT departments and development teams. We undertake bespoke workshops with each to drive forward a scheme that is fully considered, with the latest assistive technology and most importantly creates a home first, with care if required.

For Clwyd Alyn these workshops culminated in us project managing the creation of their extra care design guide bringing the best practice from across the sector.
