Kingham Hill School

Drees & Sommer were appointed by Kingham Hill School to undertake a full condition survey of their built estate which totalled over 20,000m² of accommodation. This independent school consisting of historic properties, required our specialist conservation building surveyors to undertake detailed inspections. The buildings include sports facilities, general teaching accommodation and residential accommodation. Our team undertook three exercises for the client which included an Asset Data Validation Exercise, Condition survey (Fabric and Mechanical and Electrical) as well as the preparation of costs for the repairs and maintenance works anticipated to be required over the next 10-year period.

We worked closely with the school to ensure that the survey was timed to be completed over school holiday periods to limit the impact on the day-to-day operation of the school. We worked with the school to review existing held information about the premises to ensure surveyors had a full understanding of the buildings in advance of the survey which was used to inform the survey findings.

The survey data was captured on a room-by-room and element-by-element basis enabling extremely detailed information and reporting to be generated. The output from this survey work included the generation of a condition and priority score for each element which could be pinpointed to specific room locations.

We worked closely with the school to tailor our cloud-based interactive dashboard tool which allows the easy filtering and manipulation of the detailed data captured to be able to identify repair trends, packages of anticipated works, priority works etc. and group, combine or segregate these to ensure that the repair and maintenance works identified can be carried out by the school in the most effective manner.
