University of Birmingham

We have been supporting the University of Birmingham on successive consultancy frameworks including recently been awarded a place on the University’s Build Higher Framework supporting the next 10 years of ambitious estates development.

We have cultivated strong working relationships across their estates directorate and project managers. This close-knit relationship has led to a number of successful partnerships, supporting the creation of their contractor framework and providing professional cost consultancy support in the development and cash flowing of their estates masterplan and capital programme.

As proactive consultants we support the use of the Build Higher Framework to third party institutions, and have contributed to framework panel workshops around KPIs and zero carbon specifications. The university has a long standing culture of supporting the wider HE sector, and has pioneered the adoption of a number of progressive delivery models, such as soft landings from RIBA 1, that we have embraced and promoted as part of our role.

We have also supported the university through the design and delivery of a number of capital programme schemes including: a health and wellbeing centre, the relocation of print services, the re-organisation of a number of floors of Muirhead tower, and traffic management upgrade across the vale campus. More recently,
Drees & Sommer have provided due diligence services on potential building acquisitions and have been appointed to support the delivery of a major DBFO project At Pritchatt’s Park.
