University of Central Lancashire

Our team have supported the university in the delivery of their capital masterplan by providing a multidisciplinary service including acting as lead consultant throughout its 10 year lifespan within excess of a £200m investment.

We have worked closely with the estates team, often seconding staff in to support their masterplan programme delivery. This has included delivering projects from feasibility to completion. Additionally, this has often involved supporting the university with planning, development management, community consultation, and stakeholder management (including Highways England, local authority, residents and business owners).

Central to our contribution has been to programme manage and phase all major developments across the campus, coordinating with peers and consultants to understand phasing, logistics and cashflow.

We have also been appointed on a number of major capital projects such as the Engineering Innovation Centre, that brings industry partnerships and learning through local connections to industry. We have helped deliver a multi faith centre, a new “gateway” square, new highways, a new student services building which will link to the existing UCLan library via an elevated glass walkway.

Part of the gateway scheme was the development of a “streetscape”. This innovative placemaking design promotes high quality street scenes that meet and balance the needs of all users including pedestrians, cyclists and users of various disabilities, reduce vehicle speed, and improve flow. As part of our role we managed engagement between the Council, the University, inclusivity groups, commercial enterprises and the public to support the planning application of this progressive urban landscaping project.
