University of Oxford

The University of Oxford are one of our most recent Higher Education clients. Via our local Oxford office, we have supported the university Estates and Purchasing teams through the creation and procurement of a new Technical Designer and Contractor Framework.

In addition to this we have also been appointed as lead technical advisory to promote zero carbon solutions within their ongoing capital programme.

Our role is to identify opportunities to reduce the University’s carbon footprint and project manage the delivery of a programme of works that meets the requirements of the Carbon Management Programme. This scope includes the energy performance and condition of existing technologies within all buildings on the University Functional Estate, approximately 170 buildings with 600,000m2 floor space.

The University has an annual allocation of £1,000,000 to invest in carbon reduction opportunities, this is mirrored by an annual expenditure target of £1,000,000. As the lead consultant, we seek for each allocation to have an average simple payback of ten years and a lifetime cost of carbon not exceeding £250 per tonne CO2e.

Within the works the projects have focussed on lab spaces, fume cupboards and Passivhaus solutions.

This is a progressive appointment in which we have deployed innovative technologies and worked closely with Estates and Facilities teams across live and operational buildings.
